At justteachers, we’re always looking for ways to support the next generation in their development, whether that’s in the classroom or outside of it. That’s why we’re incredibly proud to sponsor the talented riders of the Atherstone Branch of The Pony Club, as they head to compete at the prestigious Prince Philip Cup at the Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) this week.
The Prince Philip Cup, founded by the late HRH The Duke of Edinburgh in 1957, is one of the most exciting and hotly contested events in the Pony Club calendar. It’s not just a competition of skill, but also one of teamwork, resilience, and dedication. These values align perfectly with what we at justteachers believe are critical not only in education but in life.
The Atherstone team, with an impressive 20 qualifications for HOYS and five previous Prince Philip Cup wins, are a shining example of commitment and success. The current team, made up of six young riders – Charlie Robins on Squeak, Sienna Williams-Ward on Ellie, Poppy Doran on Poppy, Martha Fisher on Flash, Jayden Greasley on Squirt, and non-riding reserve Alice Pearce – are all under the age of 15 years old and have worked tirelessly to reach this prestigious competition. Under the expert guidance of their coach Matt Clingo, they have competed most weekends; building on skills, speed, accuracy and most importantly, the ability to work as a team to build encouragement and resilience, when needed.

We are really excited to see the team wearing their justteachers sponsored tracksuits and staying hydrated with their justteachers water bottles. It’s a privilege for us to play a small role in their journey to the Theatre of Dreams. We truly believe in the power of fostering the potential of young people and we are so inspired by these young riders and can’t wait to see them shine on the big stage!
