Justteachers is looking for a Drama Teacher to work full-time in January 2025 at a Secondary School in Preston, this is a long term role until the end of July 2025.

As part of the role, you will be teaching Drama to students in Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. You will help students develop their performance skills, understanding of dramatic techniques, and ability to analyse and interpret texts. In addition to classroom teaching, you will be responsible for assessing student progress, providing constructive feedback, and ensuring all students reach their full potential.

You will also contribute to the school’s extracurricular drama activities, potentially including school productions, drama clubs, or workshops, to further enhance students’ skills and passion for the arts. Collaboration with colleagues in the Performing Arts department and other staff will be essential to ensuring a cohesive and supportive learning

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver dynamic and engaging Drama lessons that promote creativity and self-expression
  • Teach a range of Drama skills, including acting, voice, movement, and stagecraft, across different age groups and abilities
  • Develop and implement schemes of work and lesson plans in line with the curriculum
  • Assess students’ progress and provide constructive feedback to support their development
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages collaboration and confidence
  • Direct and support students in drama productions, performances, and workshops
  • Organise and manage rehearsals, ensuring students are well-prepared for performances and exams
  • Encourage students to explore various theatre styles, genres, and techniques

To be considered for this role, candidates must have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status
  • Proven experience teaching Drama in KS3, KS4
  • Two education or school-based references
  • A Clear Enhanced DBS or willingness to apply for one
  • The legal right to work in the UK
