This welcoming and well-respected primary school in Dewsbury prides itself on fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for students and staff alike. We are looking to recruit a KS1 Teacher who is open to providing regular cover both on a short and long term basis.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver Engaging Lessons: Provide high-quality teaching to KS1 pupils, following the school’s established curriculum and lesson plans.
  • Classroom Management: Maintain excellent behaviour management in line with the school’s policies, fostering a safe and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Adaptability: Step into the role of the class teacher, adapting to varying requirements as needed.
  • Assessment: Mark and assess pupils’ work as required to ensure continuity in their learning progress.
  • Support Learning Goals: Encourage pupil engagement and monitor individual progress to support attainment targets.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the KS1 team and other staff to ensure consistency and a collaborative working environment.
  • Parent Communication: Where necessary, liaise with parents and guardians to provide updates on pupils’ progress.
  • Safeguarding and Welfare: Promote and adhere to all safeguarding policies, ensuring the well-being of every pupil.

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Candidates must hold QTS or an equivalent teaching qualification recognized in the UK.
  • Experience: Prior experience teaching KS1 pupils in a primary school setting.
  • DBS Check: A valid Enhanced DBS check on the update service or willingness to obtain one prior to starting.
  • Right to Work in the UK: Candidates must have the legal right to work in the UK.
  • Strong Classroom Management: Proven ability to maintain good behaviour and a positive classroom environment.
  • Adaptability: Flexible and quick to adjust to the school’s policies and requirements.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication with pupils, staff, and parents.

Desirable 

  • Knowledge of the Dewsbury area and local community.
  • Familiarity with KS1 curriculum and current educational frameworks in the UK.
  • Experience with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) students.
  • Additional training in safeguarding or child protection.
