The nature of the role is to lead a nurture group with pupils who have previously experienced significant and prolonged periods of disengagement and disaffection in their education.

As a result, this has impacted negatively upon their previous levels of attainment and motivation to succeed at school. The school are looking for a teacher to provide a targeted and strategic education to the pupils in order to the bridge gaps in knowledge particularly focusing on Phonics and Read-write Inc.

We are looking for a resilient teacher with a passion for building relationships with disengaged young people. The post is to start in September though an earlier start might be possible.

You will ideally have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a HTLA Qualification
  • Experience working with adults or children with complex or SEN needs within the last two years e.g. SEMH School, Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) Residential Care Home or similar tuition role.
  • You will need to be a positive and resilient role model who is willing to work and overcome the boundaries/challenges required to make a positive impact to the pupil’s education and wellbeing
  • Be passionate about the development and learning of students with SEND and want to make a difference
  • Be willing to build relationships with learners and understand their boundaries to learning
  • You will need to work as part of a team, including liaising with teachers, support staff and external agencies to support the learning, behaviour, physical and emotional well-being of students
  • Work well with teachers as part of a professional team, supporting students with additional needs
