Top Tips for Teaching CV
Include a cover letter – This is your first point of contact with a potential employer and an essential part of making a good first impression. Be sure to coincide your cover letter with your CV by highlighting key points or values that are most relevant.
Keep it clear – Include all the relevant information that you feel is important without waffling, it should not be longer than two pages. Use Microsoft Word and select an easily readable font, with clean and simple presentation and make sure you have clear headings. Be truthful and honest.
Punctuation and Grammar – Simple yet easy to slip up on. Do not be complacent and make sure you and a friend proof read your CV before sending it to a school or teaching agency.
Experiences/ Qualification – List all things with the most recent qualification/job/experience first and work your way back in time. State the start/completion dates with the name of the institution and outline of what was involved.
References – In line with the DoE ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ you will need to supply two referee’s one of which is your most recent teaching post. Make sure you inform your referee’s that they will be contacted, aside from being polite it will ensure that they are returned in a timely manner.
